Buying Insurance Online

If you’re purchasing a trip or flight online, and you are offered the option to purchase trip insurance or trip protection plans, please be sure to read the fine print, or find out all you can about the coverage. While travel insurance can cover a variety of risks, such as medical expenses should you be injured or get into an accident during your trip or loss, theft or damage to your baggage and personal possessions, there may still be some strings attached. There are some factors an insurance company might require to be present before they accept your claim. For example, while some travel insurers cover the reimbursement of trips you cancel, they will usually only due to this if there is a valid reason, such as death or hospitalization of an immediate family member. Canceling a trip because your leave request was not granted will usually not be honored.
Some policies also commonly exclude pre-existing medical conditions, injuries or flight interruptions due to war or terrorism, pregnancy related expenses or injury or illness caused by alcohol or drug use. Usually too, you can only purchase travel insurance during the purchase of the trip itself, not after.
